If you’re pregnant or newly postpartum, you should have a little knowledge on the hormone, Relaxin.
During pregnancy your levels of relaxin will increase, which will help lubricate and loosen the joints of your pelvis.
In preparation of childbirth, relaxin will help the body relax the ligaments, plus widen and soften the cervix during delivery.
Postpartum mamas —> Relaxin doesn’t just disappear after we have our babies! This hormone stays in the body for up to 12 months postpartum. And as long as you are breastfeeding, relaxin will continued to be produced in the body.
Because of the laxity of the joints from the relaxin it can put you at an increase risk of injury! So it’s important to never force a stretch or a movement!!
Balance will naturally be challenged with relaxin, plus when you’re pregnant there’s a shift in weight & gravity. So you will always want to progress through your workouts in a safe and effective way.
Be gentle with your body, create stability and ALWAYS check with your doctor before beginning any exercise program.
